A. Listen to the following passage and then decide whether the statements below are true or false. After hearing a short passage, blacken the letter "A" on the ANSWER SHEET if you think the statement is true, or the letter "B" if you think it is false. There are 10 statements in this part of the test, 1 point for each statement. You will hear the passage only once. At the end of the recording, you will have 2 minutes to finish this part.

My husband Rory and I are both originally from Sydney, Australia, and met in Auckland, New Zealand, where we fell in love. Then, Rory was offered an opportunity to run an advertising agency in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. As a designer, I have always been drawn to Southeast Asia, so we decided to have an adventure.

The country was in the process of picking up the pieces after the war. I started a small business in landscape design, and was offered contracts from art galleries, cafes, restaurants, and private gardens. In 2006, we set up a land-holding company that would allow us to buy, sell, and develop land.

In January 2008 a business friend told Rory about an amazing island with a virgin rainforest and pure white sand beaches 18 miles off the coast of Cambodia. The only residents there were fishermen.

Our experience there was life-changing. We were attracted by the crystal-clear water, and we were welcomed with openness by the locals. On the last day of our adventure, we met the family who owned the land, but wanted to sell it and go back to rice farming. We returned to Phnom Penh and came back with a brown paper bag full of money.

We guaranteed that any villager who wanted to stay on could do so and would have a job for life. Eight families stayed. It took us two-and-a-half years to clean up the island and build our dream tourist resort with over-water, jungle, and ocean-view villas.
