戏剧影视文学专业简介
一、专业定位
本专业以培养自觉践行社会主义核心价值观、拥有家国情怀与文化自信的剧作家为己任,以建设国内顶级、国际一流的戏剧影视文学本科专业为目标。要求学生品德正、基础厚、专业精、实践强,能掌握戏剧、戏曲、影视剧本创作的基础理论与基本技能,能具备较强的“发现”能力、审美能力、创新能力、创造能力,能在相关领域从事剧本创作、文艺编导、理论研究等工作。
二、历史沿革
上海戏剧学院于1946年开设的“编导研究班”是本专业的前身,该班第一张课程表中有60%的课程至今仍是本专业的主课。本院广播电视编导、艺术管理、戏剧教育等专业均由本专业培育并初创。
历史上有众多戏剧名家在本专业担任过教学工作,包括熊佛西、余上沅、顾仲彝、陈多、陈耘、陈汝衡、陈伯鸿、周端木、宋光祖等。本专业前贤顾仲彝教授的著作《编剧理论与技巧》是中国编剧学的奠基之作;叶长海的《王骥德曲律研究》、余秋雨的《戏剧理论史稿》获全国首届戏剧理论著作奖;本专业教师编撰的《戏剧结构论》《戏曲写作教程》《戏剧小品剧作教程》《戏剧的结构与解构》《编剧理论与技法》《电视剧写作概论》等成为本院及众多高等学校相关专业的教材或参考教材。其中《编剧理论与技法》获上海普通高校优秀教材一等奖,收入《中国大百科全书》第三版理论著作条目;《电视剧写作概论》列教育部“十一五”规划教材。本专业教师创作的剧作曾获中宣部“五个一”工程奖、文华奖、曹禺戏剧文学奖、飞天奖、金鹰奖、群星奖、中国校园戏剧节优秀剧目奖、中国戏剧文学奖、田汉戏剧奖等重要奖项。
长期以来,本专业为国家培养了一批戏剧影视编剧及文艺骨干人才,历届校友创作的剧作,如《年轻的一代》《陈毅市长》《中国梦》《原罪》《芸香》《董生与李氏》《国家的孩子》《大明四臣相》等,在社会上有广泛影响。
经过几代人的传承发展,本专业2009年被教育部列入第五批国家级特色专业建设行列,2019年被教育部列入国家级一流本科专业建设点。
三、特色、优势与成果
1.创新编剧人才培养模式,提升育人质量
本专业在传承优厚的上海戏剧学院编剧人才培养传统的基础上,构建出培养有情怀的剧作家的教学新模式,倡导学生“读书、读剧、读世”,引导学生在剧本创作中始终关照当代人的成长与社会的发展,培育学生健全的人格与高尚的艺德。本专业的人才培养模式曾获2017年度上海市级高等教育教学成果奖特等奖、2018年度国家级高等教育教学成果奖二等奖。
2.优化课程体系和教学方法,促进教学改革
本专业根据国际国内戏剧影视行业的发展特点,及时调整与创新课程设置,使教学紧扣时代步伐和社会需求。如创新《戏曲写作》《社会调查与研究》等课程教学方法,增设《电影观念史》,恢复《编剧概论》并创设《百·千·万字剧编剧工作坊》等等。其中《戏曲写作》被评为上海市精品课程,《编剧概论》被评为上海市精品课程、2020年国家首批本科一流课程;《百·千·万字剧编剧工作坊》被列为2017上海高校研究生综合改革项目、2018上海高校本科重点改革项目、国家艺术基金2019年度艺术人才培养资助项目,该工作坊的教学方法应用于上海戏剧学院与美国哥伦比亚大学合作培养编剧专业研究生等项目,在业内有一定影响。
3.构建“教学+创作+科研”体系,实现全方位育人
本专业在上海戏剧学院“创作型教学研究类大学”办学理念的支撑下,积极构建“教学+创作+科研”的全方位育人体系,使三者相互促进、相互融合,形成培育编剧人才的优势资源。创建编剧学,列上海市高峰学科建设计划;申报《戏曲剧本创作现状、问题及对策研究》获2016年度国家社科基金艺术学重大项目立项;编著《上海戏剧学院编剧学教材丛书》(10卷)、《中国现当代编剧学史料长编》(3卷)、《编剧学辞典》等,为学科建设打下基础;创办《编剧学刊》(集刊)加入全国戏剧期刊联盟;主持上海校园大师剧文本创作15部,其中12部已搬上舞台。
Overview of the Literature of Theatre, Film and Television Programme
· Orientation
The programme aims to cultivate playwrights who pursue socialist core values and fulfill patriotism and cultural confidence, as well as to build a domestically best and internationally renowned undergraduate programme in literature of theatre, film and television. It requires students to develop high moral integrity, solid academic foundation, consummate professional techniques and strong practice capabilities. Students will learn primary theories and basic techniques in script writing of theatres, xiqu, films and television, and will devleop abilities of “discovery”, aesthetics, innovation and creativity so that they will be preapred for their future careers in the related fields of playwrighting, directing and theoretical research.
· History
The predecessor of the programme was the “writing and directing research class” set up by Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1946 and 60% of the curriculum of that class are still being used as the pillar courses of the current programme. Multiple programmes in the school, like Radio and Television Directing, Art Management, and Art Education, were founded and cultivated by our programme.
Many well-known dramatists have taught in this programme, including Xiong Foxi, Yu Shangyuan, Gu Zhongyi, Chen Duo, Chen Yun, Chen Ruheng, Chen Bohong, Zhou Duanmu and Song Zuguang. Professor Gu Zhongyis “Theory and Techniques of Playwrighting” laid the foundation of Chinese playwrighting studies. Ye Changhai’s “Research on Wang Jide’s Qu-lti” and Yu Qiuyu’s “Historical Manuscript of Chinese Theatre Studies” won the first National Theatre Theory Work Award. “Theory of Theatre Structure”, “Opera Writing”, “Playwriting of Theatre Sketches”, “Construction and Deconstruction of Theatre”, “Theory and Techniques of Playwrighting” and “An Introduction to Television Drama Writing”, complied by teachers of our programme, have become textbooks for programmes at our school and many other colleges. Among them, “Theory and Techniques of Playwrighting” won the first prize of “Excellent Shanghai College Textbook”, entering the catalogue of theoretical works in the third edition of “Encyclopaedia of China”. “An Introduction to Television Drama Writing” is listed as the “Textbook of the Ministry of Education’s 11th Five-Year Plan”. Works of our teachers have won multiple significant awards like the “Five Top Project Prize” of the Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee, “Wenhua Award”, “Cao Yu Theatre and Literature Award”, “Flying Apsaras Award”, “Golden Eagle Award”, “Qunxing Award”, “Excellent Theatre Award” of the China Campus Theatre Festival, “China Theatre and Literature Award” and “Tian Han Theatre Award”.
For a long time, the programme has cultivated a number of playwrights and key talents in theatre, film and television. Works of our alumni, such as “The Younger Generation”, “Mayor Chen Yi”, “China Dream”, “Original Sin”, “Yun Xiang”, “Dong and Li”, “Children of the Nation” and “Four Ministers of the Ming Dynasty”, have yielded a profound social influence.
Through generations of inheritance and development, the programme was listed in the fifth batch of “National Featured Programmes” by the Ministry of Education in 2009 and was also approved as a construction base of “National First-Class Bachelor’s Programmes” in 2019.
· Characteristics, Advantages and Achievements
Innovating the training mode of playwrights to improve education quality
Building on the fine traditions of playwirghts education at Shanghai Theatre Academy, the programme constructs a new teaching pattern of cultivating empathetic playwrights, encouraging students to “read books, read theatres, and read the world”, guiding them to develop concerns about contemporary men and the development of the society, and strengthening their personality and artistic ethics. Our talent training mode won the special award of “Shanghai Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award” in 2017 and the second prize of “National Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award” in 2018.
Optimizing the curriculum system and teaching methods to promote education reform
According to the developmental feature of international and domestic industry of theatre, film and television, the programme adjusts and innovates its curriculum timely to keep up with the pace of our time and social needs. We have innovated the teaching method in courses like Opera Writing and Social Investigation and Research, set up new courses like History of Film Concept, restored An Introduction to Playwrighting and established Bai, Qian, Wan Playwrighting Workshop. Among them, Opera Writing was rated as “Shanghai Quality Course”, and An Introduction to Playwrighting was selected as “Shanghai Quality Course” as well as first batch of “National First-Class Bachelor’s Courses” in 2020. Bai, Qian, Wan Playwrighting Workshop was listed as the “Comprehensive Reform Project for Shanghai Postgraduates” in 2017, the “Key Reform Project for Shanghai Undergraduates” in 2018, and the funding project for art talent cultivation of National Art Foundation in 2019. The teaching method of the workshop is also applied to multiple programmes such as the master’s programme in playwrighting jointly run by Shanghai Theatre Academy and Columbia University, which enjoys a good reputation in the field.
Constructing the system of “teaching+creating+researching” to achieve all-round education
Supported by the educational philosophy of Shanghai Theatre Academy as a “creative teaching research university”, the programme actively constructs an all-round education system of “teaching+creating+researching”, so the mutual promotion and integration of the three can become an advantageous resource for cultivating playwrights. The newly founded Playwrighting Studies was listed as the “Shanghai Peak Discipline Construction Plan”.“A Study of the Current Situation, Problems and Countermeasures of Opera Playwriting” was approved as a major art theory project of National Social Science Foundation in 2016. The compiling of “Textbook Series of Playwrighting Studies of Shanghai Theatre Academy” (10 volumes), “Long Compilation of Historical Data of Chinese Modern and Contemporary Playwrighting Studies” (3 volumes) and “Playwrighting Dictionary” have laid the foundation for discipline construction. “Playwrights Journal” (collection) entered the National Theatre Journal Association. “Masterpieces in Shanghai Campus” produced 15 scripts and 12 of them have been staged.
