We welcome applications from local and non-local applicants. If you are required to obtain a student visa / entry permit issued by the Director of Immigration in order to study in Hong Kong, you are regarded as a non-local applicant. Residence status is not a criterion for selection.
Kindly note that applications will be processed on a rolling basis. Places are filled continually throughout the admission period, and there is a possibility that the quotas may be full before the deadline. Early application is therefore strongly encouraged. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend admission interviews.
Entrance Requirements
Applicants should hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Journalism and Communication, Cultural Studies, Education, or related disciplines.
Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution in a non-English speaking system should normally fulfil one of the following minimum English proficiency requirements:
Overall score of IELTS 6.0 with no subtest lower than 5.5 (academic version) (the test should be taken in test centres and the result should be valid within two years); orTOEFL score of 80 (internet-based test) (the test should be taken in test centres and the result should be valid within two years); orother equivalent qualifications.Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.
The results of IELTS/TOEFL provided should be within two years (i.e., for the 2024/25 intake, the IELTS/TOEFL test must be obtained on or after 1 Jan 2022); and
The results of IELTS/TOEFL should be “taken in test centres” (i.e., tests taken online such as IELTS indicator/IELTS Online and TOEFL Home Editions are NOT accepted).
Notes to Non-local Applicants
Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution in a non-English speaking system should include their IELTS / TOEFL test result (taken within 2 years) in the application documents. Otherwise, the application may be delayed.It normally takes 6-8 weeks for the Hong Kong Immigration Department to process visa applications. You are therefore strongly advised to submit your application as early as possible.Your application can be completed online without going through any education agencies. Successful applicants will receive individual notifications by email / post. Those who do not receive an admission offer in the main round may be put into our waiting list or their applications are being processed in the subsequent round(s).
