1、院校背景
学生本科是否是内地重点大学，如“211”或者“985”，这点在商科专业上特别明显。如香港科技大学的经济学专业，在官网上对往年录取学生的学校背景做了个总结。学校背景多为重点大学。
2、GMAT
从录取学生的院校背景来看，近50%的学生来自内地“985/211”院校以及海外的院校，从一定程度来看，拥有较好的院校背景会给录取带来一定的优势，但数据同样告诉我们：不一定是名校毕业才能申请香港地区高校的研究生。
另外，GPA是衡量录取与否的重要指标之一，近86%的成功申请者在校GPA都在80%以上（按百分制折算），所以，建议在校学生一定要注意保持良好的GPA成绩。
3、语言成绩
香港高校对语言成绩的要求近年来不断提高，一般的要求是雅思6.5或托福79。一些专业会对语言成绩有相应更高的要求，如传媒、法律、语言类专业等。
4、工作经验
如果仔细看港校的录取门槛，经常会发现这样一句话“Working experience is preferred”。因为香港的很多专业都是“full me” 和“part me”，针对香港的Local来说，大多数人选择PT，以求边工作边继续学业。所以香港的课程都是和实践结合得非常紧密，在招生上也倾向有工作经验的人。这个工作经验通常指的是毕业后全职的工作经验，而且是与申请专业在同一领域的。但是对于大多数申请应届生来说，能提供的仅有实习经验。所以提供有内容的实习相关材料极其重要
